A Maldivian man has been injured in an accident in Hulhumalé.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment is a 24-year-old Maldivian man.

The accident occurred on the bridge linking Hulhumalé Phases I and II, after a motorcycle and lorry collided.

A team of police officers were active in the area where the accident took place.

The injured motorcyclist was taken to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment.

However, MPS has not disclosed the extent of his injuries.

Road accidents have seen an alarming surge of recent, with many lives lost. In the wake of this, the government has taken numerous measures to address this issue. The measures were announced on September 6, in the wake of a fatal accident that took a life.

In similar accidents, two people died in the past week alone.

In response to this, the government has taken additional measures to increase road safety and security.

As such, MPS has initiated additional efforts to ensure road safety and security in the Greater Malé Region.

The police institution has commenced setting up vehicle checkpoints in several regions of the capital Malé City as well as Hulhumalé, to inspect vehicles.

In a message to media, the police institution revealed that they are currently working on raising awareness and advising the public to pay special heed to road safety when operating vehicles.

The public has been urged to complete all necessary safety measures before using vehicles, for the safety of everyone.

These efforts are expected to enhance road safety and security, reducing accidents and fatalities.
