A man has been arrested in a case of attempted robbery under the pretense of arranging national health insurance scheme of Maldives, Aasandha.

According to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), the individual arrested in connection with the case is a 41-year-old Maldivian man.

The suspect is accused of robbery and assault.

The incident report and the victim's statement have been submitted as evidence.

The Criminal Court ordered to remand the suspect, after taking public safety and security into consideration.

The 41-year-old man has a criminal record of robbery and other offenses.

According to the details of the case, the victim met the suspect near the Republic Square.

Upon meeting, the suspect allegedly attempted to rob the victim by deceiving him with promises of arranging Aasandha coverage.

He also reportedly tried to intimidate the victim by pressing a pen against his neck.

The Criminal Court has slapped him with a 15-day remand.

The remand order was issued by Criminal Court Judge Hussain Faiz Rashaad.
