The Maldives Police Service has initiated additional efforts to ensure road safety and security in the Greater Malé Region.

The police institution has commenced setting up vehicle checkpoints in several regions of the capital Malé City as well as Hulhumalé, to inspect vehicles.

Road accidents have seen an alarming surge of recent, with many lives lost. In the wake of this, the government has taken numerous measures to address this issue. The measures were announced on Friday, in the wake of a fatal accident that took a life.

In a message to media, the police institution revealed that they are currently working on raising awareness and advising the public to pay special heed to road safety when operating vehicles.

The public has been urged to complete all necessary safety measures before using vehicles, for the safety of everything.

These efforts are expected to enhance road safety and security, reducing accidents and fatalities.
