Ali ‘Dhagandey’ Ashfaq has been appointed to the senior position at Muraidhooge, the official residence of the Speaker of the People's Majlis.

Ashfaq is widely regarded as the best football player in the Maldives.

He has shown excellent performance both in the national team and various clubs, and has not officially retired from the sport.

RaajjeMV understands that Ashfaq has been appointed as the Director General of Muraidhooge, where the Speaker of the People's Majlis, Abdulla Raheem ‘Adhurey’ Abdulla, resides.

It has been revealed that Ashfaq has been officially reporting to work since July, his main responsibilities including overseeing the speaker's protocol matters and managing administrative affairs.

Muraidhooge is a residence specially designated for the Speaker of the People's Majlis.

Muraidhooge, designated specifically for the Speaker of the People’s Majlis, has been in use since 2021, when former President Mohamed Nasheed, then Speaker, began residing there.

It was done to strengthen his security measures following the bomb attack targeting him back in May 2021.

The residence was not used by Nasheed's successor, Mohamed Aslam.

After Abdul Raheem became the speaker of the 20th parliament assembly, the house was renovated before he officially moved in.
