An arrest has been made in a drug bust at Velana International Airport (VIA).

A 30-year-old Maldivian woman was arrested in connection with the drug bust, after he arrived at the Domestic Terminal for departure after sundown on Tuesday.

Officers found her in possession of two rubber packets filled with suspected narcotics, upon searching her.

Initial analysis revealed that the drugs weighed 209 grams.

Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for her remand hearing, the suspect was remanded for a five-day period.

The police Drug Enforcement Department (DED) is currently conducting further investigations in connection with the case.
