Two individuals have been arrested for being in possession of alcohol.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the arrests were made in Hulhumalé, the capital city’s suburban extension.

Arrested in connection with the case were a 29-year-old and a 38-year-old.

Both suspects are Maldivian men.

The arrests were made by officers patrolling the streets of Hulhumalé Phase I, who received intel that two individuals had attempted to flee after tossing a bag near the Beach Club region.

The two suspects were stopped and questioned.

Officers found 27 cans of beer inside the bag.

Further investigations are being conducted in connection with the case, by the Hulhumalé Phase I Police Station.
