Maldives currently has a capacity of 1,215 tourist facilities which include 152 safari vessels, 867 guesthouses, 14 hotels and 182 resorts. This means that of the total facility capacity, eight resorts have yet to resume operations.

1,207 tourist facilities are currently operational across the Maldives.
This was revealed by the latest daily statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday.
As such, the ministry’s figures revealed that as of July 23, the number of operational tourist accommodation facilities across the Maldives sits at 1,207.
The guesthouses span across 118 islands of 20 atolls, with hotels operational in nine islands of eight atolls. 69 percent of the bed capacity is occupied by resorts, followed by 23 percent occupied by guesthouses, five percent by safari vessels and three percent by hotels.
Presently, a total of 62,481 tourist beds are in operation across these facilities, which include 174 resorts, 867 guesthouses, 14 hotels and 152 live-aboard vessels.
The beds operational across these facilities include 42,955 in resorts, 1,956 in hotels, 14,615 in guesthouses and 2,955 in live-aboard vessels.

The ministry introduced Homestay in the Maldives in January 2022. Since then, a few more homestay facilities have been opened. This came under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s tourism development vision and policy to make tourism and its benefits accessible to the island communities as well.
