Arrests have been made in connection with a case of alcohol possession.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that following an intel report, officers of the Police Intelligence Unit and the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) conducted an operation on July 23.

Officers raided an apartment and a shop in the capital city under a court order.

141 500ml bottles filled with suspected narcotics, were found inside the apartment and shop.

Three migrants were arrested in connection with the case.

Arrested were a 24-year-old and two 29-year-olds.

The three men have since been handed over to the Maldives Immigration and the process of deporting them is currently underway.

The case is currently under further investigation by the Drug Enforcement Department.
