All those arrested in connection with violent altercations in the capital Malé City on Saturday evening, have been remanded.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that four Maldivian men were arrested for being involved in a gang violence near the Dharubaaruge region after sundown on Saturday.
Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for their remand hearing on Sunday, the four men were remanded until the end of their trial.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
Two more cases of gang violence were reported in the Greater Malé Region on Sunday.
One of them include a scuffle that broke out on Filigas Magu in Hulhumalé on Sunday evening.
Sharing details of the incident, MPS revealed that when police officers reached the scene, the accused had attempted to flee inside a car nearby.
Officers had attempted to stop the two individuals accused in the case from escaping. However, the two individuals inside the car had fled the scene, after hitting an officer with the car.
One of the suspects has since been arrested and taken into police custody. The other suspect remains at large.
The police officer who was injured after being hit by the car, was treated for injuries at the Hulhumalé Hospital.
Another violent altercation was reported earlier on Sunday, near Shaheed Ali Mosque at around 12:45pm.
Two victims in the assault were treated for injuries at IGMH, according to the police institution.
