An arrest has been made in a drug bust.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the arrest was made in an operation conducted following an intel report received by their Intelligence Unit.

The drug operation was conducted jointly by the Kulhudhuffushi City police station, Hanimaadhoo police station and police intelligence.

Arrested in connection with the operation on June 8 was a 20-year-old Maldivian woman.

Officers confiscated two packets filled with suspected narcotics, as part of the arrest.

Upon being presented to the Kulhudhuffushi Magistrate Court for her remand hearing, the woman was remanded for a period of 15 days.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
