Visit Maldives Pro 2024, the world tour event of the International Bodyboarding Corporation (IBC), has been officially launched.
Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu officially launched the tournament at a special ceremony held at Henveiru Boalhage on Monday.
The inauguration event was joined by State Minister for Sports, Fitness and Recreation Mohamed Riyaz and Maldives Bodyboarding Association (MBBA)’s President and General Secretary.
Maldives Pro 2024 is slated to kick off in Malé City on August 1.
The tournament will proceed through August 9, at the ‘Varunulaa Raalhugandu’ surf point.
There will be three divisions in this year's tournament as well; men’s open, women’s open and pro junior division.
A total of 15 athletes from the Maldives will compete in this year’s tournament.
Further, an athlete from the island nation will get a wild card in the men's open and pro junior divisions.
The athlete conferred the wild card will begin the competition from the third round.
This opportunity is entitled to the Maldives, as the country hosting the tournament.
