High Commissioner Masood Imad presents credentials to Sri Lankan Pres.

High Commissioner Masood Imad has presented his credentials to the President of Sri Lanka.

High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Masood Imad presented his Letter of Credence to President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe on Wednesday.

The credentials ceremony was held at the President’s House in Colombo.

Speaking to the Sri Lankan president following the credentials ceremony, the new Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka expressed deep honor in being appointed to the post.

Highlighting that he deeply aware of the trust and responsibility entrusted to him by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to serve as the representative of the island nation in Sri Lanka, Imad reiterated his commitment to enhance the historic and special bond that unites the two nations.

Further, he gave his assurance that he would work tirelessly to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

Emphasizing that Sri Lanka is not only an invaluable partner in the socioeconomic development of the island nation, Imad noted that the neighboring country is also a cherished second home for many Maldivians, himself included.

The meeting also saw the Maldivian High Commissioner conveying greetings to the president and people of Sri Lanka, on behalf of the president and people of Maldives, as well as Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer.

Wickremesinghe congratulated Imad on the assumption of his duties as the Maldivian High Commissioner and wished him success during his tenure.

The Sri Lankan president assured Imad that his government is fully committed to enhance the relations between Maldives and Sri Lanka.

He also assured that the Sri Lankan government will continue to extend support during the new high commissioner’s tenure.
