Discussions have been held on the growing partnership between Maldives and the State of Qatar.
This was during a meeting Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer held with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as part of his ongoing brief official visit to Qatar.
The meeting was held on Sunday.
FM Zameer shed light on the growing partnership between the two countries during the meeting and expressed gratitude to the government of Qatar for the generous assistance extended for the socio-economic development of the island nation.
The two ministers reiterated their mutual commitment to work towards expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Further, the Maldivian minister conveyed appreciation for the role Qatar has played in the mediation process on the Gaza crisis.
They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the partnership in the multilateral fora on matters of global concern.
FM Zameer was accompanied by Bilateral Secretary Dr. Hala Hameed, Ambassador-at-Large Dr. Fazeel Najeeb and Assistant Director Lamha Saleem during the meeting.
FM Zameer departed to Qatar from Velana International Airport (VIA) on Saturday.
He will conclude his brief visit and return home on May 13.
FM Zameer will also be sitting down for talks with other senior officials from the government to explore opportunities to enhance cooperation in various sectors between Maldives and Qatar.
This year will mark the 40th anniversary since bilateral relations were established between Maldives and Qatar.
