President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to continue the development initiatives underway in Magoodhoo island of Faafu atoll, without any interruption.
He said this during a meeting held with the island’s councilors and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) members as part of his tour of several islands in Faafu atoll which he began on Saturday.
Discussions at the meeting that took place at Magoodhoo Island’s Fenaka Office mainly revolved around the most pertinent concerns and development priorities of the island community.
Councilors expressed concern over the stalled construction of Magoodhoo Airport and shed light on the urgency to start constructing the school's multipurpose hall and science lab.
They also briefed the president on the need to upgrade the island’s football field and construct a new council administration office building.
Council members urged the president to complete the development initiatives underway, as swiftly as possible.
Speaking at the meeting, the island’s WDC members shed light on the challenges they face due to budgetary constraints.
Shedding light on his administration’s priorities to ensure development, Muizzu stated that the Magoodhoo Airport project and other development projects would continue and be completed without any interruptions.
Muizzu also stated that development initiatives that have not been requested by the council, were also underway.
