Maldives has confirmed that Wednesday is Eid-Al-Fitr.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs held a meeting to observe the moon on Monday evening.
Following the meeting, the Islamic ministry has revealed that the moon was not sighted across any region in the Maldives, which means that April 9 is the last day of the fasting month of Ramadan and April 10 is Eid-Al-Fitr.
After the official ceremony to confirm the moon sighting to mark the beginning of the month of Shawwal, the ministry revealed that by the time the sun set on Monday, the moon was not sighted across any region in the Maldives.
As per the procedure to be followed to confirm the sighting of the new moon of Ramadan and Shawwal, April 10 was declared the beginning of Eid, and April 9 as the 30th day of Ramadan.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also declared Tuesday as the last day of the fasting month, as they did not sight the moon on Monday.
Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a month during which Muslims observe fasting from sunrise to sunset.
