Several activities planned for Eid-Al-Fitr, vehicles banned from 4pm – 6pm
 
According to the calendar, Eid-Al-Fitr falls on April 10 this year

Malé City Council has announced vehicle ban hours for Eid-Al-Fitr.

In a publication on Sunday, the council revealed that vehicle operations will be banned from 4pm to 6pm on the day of Eid-Al-Fitr.

A vehicle ban was observed for a specific period on Eid day, In the past as well.

The city council has also decided to organize a number of activities to commemorate the occasion.

Celebrations of the holy day will kick off with a mass congregation for Eid prayer at 7am.

As such, a breakfast will be hosted at Ekuveni Track region at 7:30am on the day of Eid.

The city’s Women’s Development Committee (WDC) will be distributing Eid gifts to children as well.

At 9:30am, a “water fight” known in Dhivehi as ‘fenkulhi’ organized as part of the day’s festivities, will begin.

Further, a ‘Maali’and ‘Bodumas’parade will begin at 4pm in front of Olympus Cinema on Majeedhee Magu, to end at Artificial Beach region.

Traditional activities have also been scheduled to kick off in Maafannu district from 4pm to 6pm.

The activities scheduled to begin at Artificial Beach at 8:30pm on the day of Eid include a music show.

In addition to this, a fireworks display will kick off at 10:30pm.

According to the calendar, this year’s Eid-Al-Fitr falls on April 10, this Wednesday.

The council has also been decorating the streets of the capital city to invoke the spirit of Eid within the public.
