The government of Maldives is committed to uphold the principles of democracy, justice, and equality, says Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer.

He said this while delivering a statement at the Third Summit for Democracy on Wednesday.

Addressing the summit, the Maldivian foreign minister shed light on the efforts undertaken by the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in a bid to foster an independent civil society and to ensure justice equally for all citizens.

Touching upon the initiatives undertaken by the Muizzu administration to empower youth and prioritize the participation of women in the decision-making process, FM Zameer noted that President Muizzu also places high priority in efforts to increase women’s engagement in politics.

Further, he emphasized the fruitful collaboration between the governments of Maldives and the United States in implementing reforms aimed at ensuring equal access to justice which has led to the reorganization of the Maldivian court system.

Convened by the government of the Republic of Korea, the Third Summit for Democracy revolved around the theme “Democracy for Future Generations” and was held in Seoul, South Korea.
