President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to address the land shortage issue facing the community of Kurendhoo island in Lhaviyani atoll.

This was done during a meeting he held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Saturday.

During the meeting, councilors shed light on some pressing issues facing the island community including those around the harbor project, coastal erosion, land shortage, housing requirements as well as the allocation of an island for economic activities.

They shed light on the importance of fast-tracking the completion of the school's multipurpose hall and enhancing the services provided at the island’s health center.

Discussions also revolved around the need to improve electricity generation.

President Muizzu was also briefed on the matters related to the island's social and economic development.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.

Members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers accompanying him on the tour shared latest updates linked to the issues raised, at the meeting.
