President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to commence a land reclamation project in Felidhoo island of Vaavu atoll, within this year.

The president made this commitment while speaking to the residential community of the island on Wednesday.

Taking the podium at the event, the president committed to place high priority on the project to reclaim land in Felidhoo island and pledged to begin the project within 2024.

Highlighting that the land reclamation would proceed as planned in the island's Land Use Plan (LUP), the president noted that the project would begin within the year and that it would be completed as soon as possible.

Further, he announced that the groundwork for the administration's nationwide housing projects would officially commence within 2024 as well.

President Muizzu also revealed that affordable housing loans would also be introduced by his administration soon.

The president also pledged to build a four-story building to accommodate the additional classrooms and multipurpose hall requested for the island’s school.

In addition to this, he noted that in line with the aspirations of the island community, the administration plans to upgrade the hospital and develop a sports complex in the island.
