Police begins search for 34 individuals over recent spike in gang violence
 
Gang violence has increased in the recent days, with two fatalities in the past week
 
On Tuesday, Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed had revealed that 20 suspects have already been arrested in relation to the crimes
 
Police did not reveal the details of the individuals

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a manhunt for 34 individuals after the recent increase in gang violence across the capital city.

Speaking to RaajjeMV on Thursday, police media officer said that they have begun searching for 34 individuals over the stabbings that have been taking place across the city in the recent days.

However, police did not reveal the details of these individuals.  

On Tuesday, Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed had revealed that 20 suspects have already been arrested in relation to the crimes.

The Minister had also stated that they were investigating if the violence has any political connections.

Gang violence has increased in the recent days, with two fatalities in the past week. Nadheem 'Nadey' Abdul Raheem, 24, succumbed to injuries on last Saturday after being stabbed in the head two days earlier, while 25-year-old Mohamed Anas was stabbed to death on Monday night.
