The government has announced salary increments for officers of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu made this announcement while speaking at the second session of the 'Ahaa' public forum, held at Sultan Park on Friday to address questions from the public.
The president said the government has planned to increase the salary of those working in the police institution and armed forced, from March 2024.
Further, he also announced that his administration will launch housing projects soon, in the congested capital, Malé City and other parts of the island nation.
Highlighting that his administration has achieved 100 percent, from 150 out of the 161 pledges of the administration's "Hafthaa 14" roadmap, the president noted that more than 80 percent of the remaining pledges have been completed.
Speaking at the forum, the president shared details of his administration's efforts to revive the economy, provide opportunities to people with disabilities, plans to create a village or center for performing artists and professionals, as well as medium and long-term plans to offer opportunities for university education across the island nation.
President Muizzu also pledged to establish a world-class surfing stadium within the next year.
Muizzu committed to build a drifting stadium in Hulhumalé as well.
