Council members of Dhaandhoo island in Gaaf Alif atoll have shared key concerns for the island’s progress, with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

President Muizzu met Dhaandhoo councilors and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Thursday.

Discussions were held on the need for a housing project, access to banking services, and establishing a hospital on the island.

The councilors further shed light on the importance of expediting development projects for the island's progress.

Touching upon the need to fast-track the 50-tonne ice plant project, the councilors urged the administration to provide essential amenities in the reclaimed area of the island.

In addition to this, they proposed to link Nilandhoo and Dhaandhoo islands via a bridge.

Speaking at the meeting, WDC members emphasized the need to improve the island’s healthcare system and shared the need for a gynecologist to be established at the health center.

They also urged the government to provide affordable housing options.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured members that the concerns they raised, would be addressed through careful consultations with relevant authorities.

Members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers briefed the council on the latest updates on projects linked to issues raised at the meeting.
