Council members of Thinadhoo island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll have shared the important measures for the island’s economic development, with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

This was done during a meeting the president held with the members of the city’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Tuesday, as part of his tour of some islands in the south of Maldives which he began on Sunday morning.

During the meeting held at the secretariat of the Thinadhoo council, councilors stressed the need to expedite development projects.

Some of the projects they urged to implement swiftly include upgrading the Thinadhoo Regional Hospital to tertiary standards and developing 200 housing units on the island.

They went on to express the need for an airport, as well as a project for bridge development.

Discussions were also held on the need for housing, as well as economic and social development opportunities.

Listening to these concerns, the president noted that his administration would address the concerns the council raised, and that the administration prioritizes regional development.

He went on to detail the development of the southern development zone, with Thinadhoo as an urban center, with the southernmost three atolls combined.
