A special logo has been launched for home-based food producers.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed unveiled the logo, during a ceremony held at the Islamic Center's meeting hall on Monday.

This is a joint initiative between the Business Center Corporation (BCC) and the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA).

Taking the podium at the event, FL Sajidha stated that the launching of the logo would pave the path for those working from home, with the opportunity to expand their businesses, particularly those owned by women.

Shedding light on the purpose of launching the logo, the first lady noted that the logo aims to ensure food security and increase public confidence in safety by adhering to the standards of MFDA.

Further, she stated that this initiative by BCC and MFDA is a significant step towards promoting the domestic industry by creating the logo.

FL Sajidha stated that such joint efforts by relevant authorities would assist the island nation reach greater heights, in progress.

She went on to call for the swift expedition of the Food Security Bill which has been pending at the People’s Majlis since 2021, into an act, to ensure its effective implementation.

Sajidha noted that this step would aid the welfare of the people and the progress of the archipelago nation.

Individuals who wish to earn a steady revenue may apply for the logo of the ‘Home-based Food Producer’ via the‘Dhirithi Portal’.
