The shore protection project initiated on Rathafandhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll is well underway.

This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Sunday.

As such, providing the latest updates of the Rathafandhoo shore protection project to the public via a post on social media platform ‘X’, MTCC noted that they recently delivered the second shipment of rock boulders required for the project.

The first shipment was delivered back in April 2023.

Currently ongoing is the construction of the revetment, which has reached 48 percent progress.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to construct a 461-meter revetment and a breakwater measuring 240 meters.

The project also entails beach filling operations in an area measuring 6,600 cubic meters. This component had reached 87 percent progress by April last year.

The Rathafandhoo shore protection project is valued at MVR 26.27 million.
