Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has urged the people to serve the nation and our Islamic faith with loyalty and honesty.
The Vice President made this appeal while speaking at the official ceremony to commemorate Martyrs' Day at the Social Center on Wednesday evening.
Taking the podium at the event, the Maldivian VP shed light on the significance of drawing lessons from the sacrifices of the archipelago nation’s heroes who had prioritized religion and the country's independence over personal interest.
VP Latheef also shed light on the remarks President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu made in commemoration of the Martyrs' Day this year.
He specifically shed light on the valuable lesson students of now can acquire from the sacrifice of Sultan Ali.
In addition to this, the Vice President expressed gratitude to President Muizzu for resuming the celebration of Martyrs' Day as a day of national significance.
VP Latheef went on to shed light on the importance of remembering Sultan Ali's sacrifice as essential to protecting the nation, Islamic values, and unity.
The event was joined by the Vice President’s spouse Aishath Afreen Mohamed as well as Members of the Cabinet, high-ranking government officials and foreign ambassadors.
