The physical work of the road construction project in Ihavandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll, has begun.

The groundbreaking ceremony to kickstart the project, was held in the island on Monday.

The project to design and build major roads of the island was inaugurated by Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib

Under the scope of the project, the Road Development Corporation (RDC) will be tarring and modernizing 15 roads on the island.

RDC revealed that water drainage systems will be installed, as part of the efforts to modernize the island’s roads.

Once the project is completed, streetlights and signs will be installed along the length of the roads.

The company’s aim is to wrap up the project successfully within the next six months.

The project was contracted to RDC during April 2022.

The Ihavandhoo road construction project is valued at MVR 102 million.
