A man has been arresting for attempting to smuggle drugs into the Maldives through international courier services provider DHL.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they arrested a 24-year-old Maldivian man for importing a package full of drugs into the island nation.
Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for his remand hearing, the man has been slapped with a month-long remand.
The court’s remand order states that they confirmed that the package containing narcotics belonged to him, after finding that the phone number written on the package, matched the man’s phone number.
The man was arrested from DHL office while he was there to collect the package.
The court order states that the tracking number of the package was found on the man’s phone.
