The Elections Commission has announced the recruitment of officials for the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary Election.
In an announcement made public, the commission stated that they are working to hire officials to monitor the polling stations of the parliamentary election.
Those interested in acting as officials for the 2024 Parliamentary Elections are requested to submit their applications through the commission'slink.
The Commission also highlighted the precautions to be taken when submitting applications through the portal. The portal can be logged in through a verified e-pass account and after logging in through the e-pass, the person must give permission to provide the e-pass information to the portal.
Additionally, only PDF files can be uploaded to the portal. Once the form is uploaded to the portal, the status of the form will be displayed on the portal.
The requirements for the job include being between the ages of 18 and 65, not holding a senior position in any political party, and not being actively involved in the campaign activities of any candidate.
They should also not be closely related to any candidates.
They should also have the education and experience to perform the duties of an official, be medically fit for such duties, not be serving a sentence for a criminal offense, and not be a school student.
The deadline for the application is set at 05 March 2024.
The 2024 Parliamentary election has been slated for 14 March 2024.
According to the People’s Majlis, the new parliament which begins in 2024 will have 93 seats. These include two constituencies added to Malé City. From 2024, the capital city will have a total of 17 seats.
One seat each has been added to Baa atoll, Kaafu atoll, Gaaf Alif Atoll and Seenu Atoll as well.
The Parliamentary Election ought to take place thirty days prior to the expiry of the current parliamentary term.
The Maldivian constitution states that April 28 is the deadline for all matters pertaining to the Parliamentary Election.
The applications for the 2024 Parliamentary Election would be opened on 30 January. The application deadline is set as 17 February 2024.
