The Maldives Customs Service has seized drugs weighing 1.132 kilograms being smuggled into the Maldives via post.
Customs officers found the drugs while doing further inspections following suspicions that drugs were hidden inside a package, on Tuesday.
The substances discovered in four of the five cases tested positive for synthetic cathinone, a narcotic substance, during an initial analysis by customs officers.
The confiscated drugs weighed a total of 1.132 kilograms, including packaging.
A 20-year-old Maldivian man was arrested in connection with the case.
The suspect has been handed over to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and further investigations are currently underway.
Customs officials have also handed over the drugs seized in the case, to the police institution in order to probe the case further.
