Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a manhunt for an individual wanted for police interrogation in connection with a case of drug smuggling and trafficking.
The police institution revealed that the case is being investigated by the Drug Trafficking Investigation Department.
In a publication made on Tuesday, MPS noted that the man is being sought for police interrogation regarding a case linked to drug smuggling and peddling.
The manhunt was publicized as the authority’s efforts to locate the man and handover his summons notice has been to no avail so far, and as the MPS has been unable to track him down.
The summons was issued in accordance with section 27 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to be followed by the police while investigating criminal cases.
Being sought is 34-year-old Mohamed Farih, native to Kulhudhuffushi City in the north of Maldives.
Farih is summoned for questioning regarding the ongoing probe.
He is to present himself to the Sergeant Adam Haleem Crime Investigation Building, at 2pm on 26 December 2023.
