A man has been remanded for stealing goods worth over MVR 400,000.
Arrested in connection with the case was a 39-year-old Maldivian man.
The man is accused of theft, entering an unauthorized property as well as damaging property.
The Criminal Court remanded the suspect for a period of 10 days.
His remand period will expire on 26 December 2023.
An officer of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) who was involved in the investigation of the case, told the court that the value of the goods stolen by the accused, amounted to more than MVR 400,000.
The Criminal Court has directed MPS to submit the bodycam recording or a CCTV footage of the area to the next remand hearing, from the time he was taken to the Galolhu Police Station, as the accused has made allegations regarding the manner in which he was arrested. As such, he accused the police of “forcibly” arresting him.
Judge Ibrahim Zihunee issued the court order.
