The government is to establish three institutions to instil patriotism in line with the country’s national policy.

This was announced following a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with his Cabinet of Ministers on Sunday.

The decision was reached following discussions on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage.

The three institutions to be established to instil patriotism include the Dhivehi National Heritage Research Centre, the Dhivehi National Heritage College and the Dhivehi National Publisher to revive patriotism.

The paper submitted by the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage shed light on the responsibilities of these three institutions that are crucial elements to revive patriotism as part of the Muizzu administration’s 'Hafthaa 14' roadmap.

To be overseen by the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage, the Dhivehi National Heritage College aims to generate academically qualified personnel and teach the public on native identity and culture.

The Dhivehi National Heritage Research Center will be tasked with the responsibility to keep creating, inventing, and maintaining the knowledge of indigenous identity.

The President’s Office revealed that this entails gathering academic data, conducting research and producing academic papers, publishing findings, planning scholastic gatherings on patriotism, and raising awareness and instilling nationalism.

Similarly, the role of the Dhivehi National Publisher is to publish and disseminate the work of Maldivians produced through the new initiative.
