A large stash of alcohol in police custody which was confiscated during multiple operations, have been destroyed.
The institution revealed that the alcohol was destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police committee and under the set legal procedure for it.
The stash of alcohol was destroyed in Dhoonidhoo island.
Destroyed were 298 branded bottles of alcohol, 200 PET bottles and 936 cans of beer.
12 items including bags, newspapers, cardboard boxes and plastic bags were included among the destroyed items as well.
MPS revealed that the destroyed alcohol was brought into their custody as part of cases filed with the institution.
Further, alcohol that were brought in by the Drug Enforcement Department, tourist police and the Hulhumalé Police Station without any details of the accused, were also destroyed.
