First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has shed light on the importance of involving children in sports, alongside their academic pursuits.

The first lady made these remarks during her speech at the closing ceremony of the 'Nestlé Kids Netball Fest 2023'.

The closing ceremony of the 'Nestlé Kids Netball Fest 2023' was held at the Henveiru Football Stadium on Saturday.

Emphasizing the important role sports play in the physical and mental well-being of children, FL Sajidha encouraged students to view athletics not only as a competitive platform, but also as a form of engaging in physical activity.

Organized by Fiontti Sports Academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, the Nestlé Kids Netball Fest 2023 saw more than 1,000 students from schools spanning the capital region participating.

The tournament was held from November 30 – December 2.

The first lady observed the final matches played in the tournament on Saturday.

She also presented medals to the champions of the tournament.
