Discussions have been held on further enhancing the “special” partnership between Maldives and neighboring India, during the newly inaugurated administration.

High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Maldives Munu Mahawar paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday evening.

Productive discussions regarding efforts to enhance the special partnership between India and the Maldives were held during the courtesy call.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Mahawar extended greetings from India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to the Maldivian foreign minister.

Further details regarding the meeting have not been disclosed by the foreign ministry yet.

The government of India has expressed commitment to continue close collaborations with the newly inaugurated administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The neighboring country has also expressed commitment to support the Muizzu administration’s efforts to evacuate Indian troops present in the Maldives, as it is an “important” commitment of the incumbent administration.
