An officer of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) has been found dead at sea.
The police institution revealed that the Special Constabulary officer who was found dead at sea, was employed at the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement stationed in southernmost Addu City.
MPS received reports of the officer, who was last seen before going to the mosque for Isha prayer on Monday evening.
The police institution received the report at around 12:40am on Tuesday.
A search was launched soon after receiving the report and officers found the missing officer at around 1:40am.
The officer was found dead at sea, near the Hithadhoo swimming track region.
Police cited Addu Equatorial Hospital having revealed that he was dead even when he was brought to the hospital.
The deceased officer was 22 years of age.
Further investigations are currently underway.
