Eight of the 12 Indian arrested for illegal fishing in the Maldives has been sent back.

This was disclosed by the Indian High Commission in Maldives, via platform X.

Taking to the platform, the Indian High Commission stated that the eight of them were people who expressed interest in returning to India immediately. The Commission stated that they provided assistance in sending the man back to India.

Additionally, the commission noted that the Maldivian government continues to work with the relevant authorities to find a swift solution to the problem.

The 12 fishermen from Tamil Nadu, India, were arrested in Maldivian waters on 23 October, 2023. They were arrested for illegal entry and fishing in the Maldivian waters.
