President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that it is crucial for the Maldives and India to work together in finding sustainable and digital solutions needed for the future of the Maldives.

He said this while speaking at the India-Maldives Business Forum held in Bangalore, on the sidelines of his official visit to India upon the invitation of the neighboring country’s president.

Taking the podium at the event, Muizzu shed light on the introduction of digital financial services such as the use of RuPay cards in the Maldives.

He also touched upon climate change-related work and the principles of multilateralism, stating that by launching the Maldives Creative Economic Strategy, the government's efforts to expand the digital economy, aim to revitalize areas that empower professionals, arts, and media.

Further, he said that enhancing relationships with tech companies and educational institutions is beneficial for the Maldives to leverage the technical wealth that Bangalore has in the ICT sector, and that these are ways to empower the arts.

Describing Maldives as one of the most ideal destinations for Indian investments given that the Maldives and India are geographically similar, share cultural aspects, have a favorable business environment, and have established economic ties.

He went on to shed light on the significance of sustainable tourism, highlighting that Maldives remains committed to use renewable energy, and to efforts to increase resilience to climate change.

The Maldivian leader invited Indian investors to further explore investment opportunities in these areas.

President Muizzu expressed gratitude to the government of the neighboring country, as well as the business community of India for ensuring the success of his visit.
