A man has died after being hit by a speed boat while fishing.
The incident occurred in Gemanafushi island of Gaaf Alif atoll after sundown on Thursday.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that deceased in the accident was a 45-year-old Maldivian man.
The man was in the water, attempting to fish using a metal rod when he was hit by the speed boat.
The speed boat was on its way to enter Gemanafushi lagoon when the incident occurred.
He was deceased when he was rushed to the hospital after the incident.
