FM Zameer to head to China on official visit

Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer is to head to China on an official visit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed this via a statement publicized on Friday.

The ministry revealed that the official trip comes following the invitation of Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi.

Zameer will be departing to China on the official visit, on Saturday.

The ministry noted that the foreign minister will engage in official talks with his counterpart, Foreign Minister Wang Yi as part of the brief visit.

He is also scheduled to sit down for talks with other senior officials of the Chinese government.

The visit will see FM Zameer engaging in important discussions with key companies in China, that are expected to play a pivotal role in the economic development of the Maldives.

A delegation comprising of Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdul Muththlib, and senior officials of the Maldivian government will accompany the minister during the visit.

Zameer will conclude his trip to China and return home on July 24.
