The Maldives Customs Service has foiled a drug smuggling attempt via courier.
The items were seized during a search of a parcel brought to the Maldives by courier from Germany. During further inspection, suspicious substances were found in the parcel.
The customs revealed that they seized the consignment during an operation conducted on 16 September. They noted that suspected drug paraphernalia was found inside the parcel.
Customs analyzed the items and found them to be positive for MDMA.
The total weight of the drugs seized in this case was 2.2 kg, according to customs.
The drugs has now been handed over to the Maldives Police Service for further investigation.
