Alcohol bottles being smuggled into Vaadhoo island of Raa atoll, have been confiscated.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) conducted the operation on July 24, after being tipped off that alcohol was being smuggled into the island on a liveaboard vessel.
Acting on the intel report received by the Police Intelligence Unit, officers stationed in Alifushi island and Vaadhoo island jointly collaborated with intelligence officers to crackdown on the alcohol smuggling attempt.
During the operation, officers confiscated 455 bottles of alcohol and 52 cans of beer onboard the safari.
Further investigations into the alcohol smuggling attempt are currently underway.
