A fourth Maldivian pilgrim has died while performing this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs revealed that deceased is Ali Gasim, 81 and native to Kelaa island of Haa Alif atoll.

Gasim was in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj pilgrimage, through the Maldives Hajj Corporation.

Gasim died at his hotel in Madinah, some time on Thursday morning.

He is the fourth Maldivian pilgrim to have passed away while performing this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.

Earlier this month, the third Maldivian pilgrim’s death was reported when Gasim Ibrahim, native to Holhudhoo island of Noonu atoll passed away in Mecca.

On June 30, Ali Hassan, 72, native of Maaenboodhoo island of Dhaalu atoll passed away while receiving treatment at the Saudi German Hospital in Mecca, at around 06:17pm (Maldives time).

Ali Hassan was in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj pilgrimage, through the Maldives Hajj Corporation.

Earlier that day, another Maldivian Hajj pilgrim who went missing was found dead, four days after he went missing.

Mohamed Naseem Ali, 72, native of Maakurathu island of Raa atoll, was discovered dead near Jabal al-Nour, a mountain region in Mecca.
