MMC extends deadline for journalism awards’ nominations
 
The journalism awards have been conferred annually since 2014
 
Awards will be conferred in 12 main categories

The Maldives Media Council (MMC) has extended the deadline for nominations for the annual journalism awards.

The council opened applications for the journalism awards on 8 June 2023.

MMC has revealed that the new deadline for applications has been set at 1pm, July 23.

The awards will be conferred in two main categories; newspaper and broadcasting.

Awards will be conferred in 12 main categories this year as well.

The categories are:

  • Investigative journalism category
  • Sustainable development and social category
  • Politics category
  • Legal category
  • Business and economy category
  • Sports category
  • Photojournalism category
  • Video journalism category
  • Graphics and illustrations category
  • Feature journalism category
  • Most promising journalist category
  • Best journalist of the year category

Nominations for these categories are to be filled with the applications for the journalism award, most promising journalist award and best journalist of the year award.

These three application forms, as well as the criteria considered for awarding and marking criteria, have been detailed in the ‘Journalism Awards Policy’ publicized by the media council.

Interested individuals are required to submit their applications by 1pm, July 23, either by visiting the MMC or through email.

The journalism awards have been conferred annually since 2014.
