Eid-al-Adha congregations to be held in four locations of GMR

Mass congregations for Eid-Al-Adha prayer will be held across four regions in the Greater Malé Region this year.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs revealed that congregations for Eid-Al-Adha prayer will be held at Maafannu Stadium in Malé City, Villimalé Football Stadium, Hulhumalé Synthetic Track and the Cricket Stadium in Hulhumalé Phase II this year.
Eid prayers will be observed across 17 mosques in Malé City, one mosque in Villimalé; Masjid Salam, two mosques in Hulhulé, three mosques in Hulhumalé Phase I and two mosques in Hulhumalé Phase II.
The ministry has allocated these regions for the annual mass congregation for Eid-Al-Adha this year, and preparations are currently underway.
Eid-Al-Adha falls on June 28 this year.
The government has been holding mass congregations at stadiums for many years now , with the first one held in 2012. Eid prayers are performed in congregation twice a year during Eid-Al-Adha and the Eid-Al-Fitr, the latter marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan which is celebrated by Muslim communities globally.
Performing the Eid prayer in congregation is a holy practice among the Muslim communities.
