Officers at Asseyri Prison have foiled an attempt to smuggle in drugs into the prison.

Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu took to Twitter on Monday, revealing that there was an attempt to smuggle in contraband into Asseyri Prison using a drone, earlier that day.

The Commissioner of Prisons revealed that officers stationed at the prison complex foiled the attempt and seized five bullets of narcotics.

The seized narcotics weigh around 29 grams.

Further, five sim cards were also seized in the operation.

Pictures shared by the Commissioner of Prisons show a bottle of yoghurt milk attached to the drone, in which the contraband was being smuggled into the jail complex.

This comes at a time a prison officer was also caught attempting to smuggle contraband into Asseyri Prison, last Friday.
