Three expatriates have been arrested in a drug operation conducted in the capital, Malé City.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Sunday revealed that three expatriates were arrested on May 22, during an operation carried out based on information received by Counter Narcotics Intelligence regarding possession, use, and trafficking of drugs.
Police revealed that as part of the operation conducted in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Department (DED), a house in Galolhu district of the capital city was searched, and substances believed to be drugs were confiscated. The provisional weight of the substances is 350.92 grams.
In connection with the operation, three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested; MD Mehdi Hasan, 29 Abu Taleb, 47 and MD Salam Miah, 41.
In addition to this, the police institution revealed that when the three suspects were presented before the court for a remand hearing in connection with the case, the court ordered their remand for 15 days.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
