The government of Maldives has strongly condemned the ongoing attacks by Israeli forces, on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued late Friday, the Maldivian government strongly condemned the ongoing attacks by the Israeli forces that have killed 31 Palestinians and left several more injured.

Several residential buildings have also been left destroyed in the wake of the attacks, since Israel began their air strikes earlier this week.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that these actions by the Israeli forces are a blatant violation of international law and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly.

Further, the Maldivian government has claimed that these actions undermine the efforts to achieve a lasting resolution to the conflict and the establishment of peace and stability in the region.

Expressing the solidarity of Maldivians and the government of Maldives with the government and people of Palestine, the Maldivian government assured its firm support for the legitimate and just struggle of Palestinians to achieve a free, independent and sovereign state.

The statement goes on to read that the government of Maldives remains resiliently committed to work closely with the international community to advocate for the cause of the Palestinians.

The ministry stressed that a lasting, peaceful resolution to the conflict can only be realized through a two-state solution, with an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
