The governments of Maldives and Slovenia have held its first round of political consultations.
The first round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
The political consultations provide a platform for Maldives and Slovenia to engage in discussions regarding mutually important issues in bilateral, regional and multilateral forums.
Thursday’s consultations saw both governments exploring ways to enhance bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in various areas, including health, education, economy, trade, environment, and climate change.
Further, the engagements revolved around boosting cooperation in the tourism sector, such as improving connectivity and advancing people-to-people ties.
Both governments also engaged in discussions regarding international issues of mutual importance and reaffirmed mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation in the multilateral arena.
Secretary of Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hussain Niyaaz co-chaired the first round of political consultations, alongside Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Mateja Norčić Štamcar.
